Day 4- Carlsbad Caverns

Day 4: Carlsbad Caverns

Hello from the Dopeys! Roll Call: Ethan Jung, Caitlyn Federation, Sophia O'Sullivan, Holland Perryman, Grace McTigue, Lizzie Outlaw, Emily Hinson, Riley Britt, Zac Lewis, Mary Ava McGrath, Abby Lucas, Larkin Gliddon and Braydon Mullins. A very peaceful morning was the opposite for the Teens at TWB this morning. We woke up to blasts of music and sang along to the song “Raining Tacos,” which was surprisingly very catchy. We packed up and headed towards the bus and vans and had gourmet breakfast consisting of glazed and frosted Honey Buns--very nutritious. Emily Hinson also known as “Pukey” didn’t puke this time, third times a charm. We stopped at Flying Jays a number of times, but Holland added a milestone to her bucket list and had a Cinnabon for the first time. She shared it with Sophia and thought it was delicious! Then after everyones sugar coma, Dallas woke up everyone on the bus. The Carolina Girl van was the opposite, they had a sing-a-long with music ranging from High School Musical to ACDC,  let’s just say we were warming up for the sing-a-long later that night. Back to the bus, Evan tried a Bang energy drink for the first time and Ethan constructed a card table with a rope and tray. We then used those trays to have lunch, which was Caesar chicken wraps, delicious!

The Caverns were so much fun! We had orientation with the beautiful Joanne and had our presentations in front of the cavern. “Going inside the cavern was like nothing I’ve ever seen before!” says Lizzie. Walking deeper and deeper down the cavern made the jokes funnier and funnier. Larkin and Grace compared the mesmerizing rocks like a Disney attraction and talked about Indiana Jones and his possible adventures down at the Cavern while Zack took amazing pictures. Abbey then crawled under the cave and got stuck. Luckily, it wasn’t the one that weighed over two hundred thousand tons! After our fun day at the cavern, we arrived at our campsite and swam in the bottomless lake which is over 90 feet deep. We were eaten alive by mosquitos. I guess you all know what we’ll be getting at Walmart. (Bug spray, lots and lots of bug spray and itch cream.) Speaking of bugs, Mava saw a huge spider and flipped out. Well, we all did. After that traumatizing moment, we all had walking tacos and sang songs till it was time to go to bed. Overall, the TWB teens had an amazing day in New Mexico. “Looking for aliens tonight. See you later!” -Dopes
