Day 20- Kansas

Day 20: Kansas

HEY GUYS! It’s the Grumpy Goobers and we’re ready to keep y’all updated for these last three days of TWB. Abbi Williams, Patrick Abbott, William Childers, Carynn Davis, Ainsley Kimble, Seth Greer, Christian Dennis, Mallory Blalock, Sanders Bridgers, Ainslie Ollis, Kelly Kang, and Grace Kayler.

This morning we “slept in” to an extremely late 7:15, still tired. We packed and got ready to go for a long drive through Kansas. Sanders, Will, Willy, Carson, Kelly, Asher, and Charlie were especially tired because they stayed up until 5:00AM finishing a 1000 piece puzzle. Once we got on the bus we went straight to Walmart so that the cooks could buy breakfast and lunch. Sanders bought extremely delicious sugar cookies. As soon as we got back on the bus, we were served yogurt parfaits. They consisted of yogurt and granola, pretty bomb if you ask us. On the bus we watched Cars for Will’s birthday and that was one of his only requests! Christian’s favorite scene is when Lighting McQueen learns how to drift. Kachow! The long ride got everyone bored so people started playing trivia. One question that especially stumped everyone on the bus was “what country has the unicorn as their national animal?” (The answer is Scotland.) On Carolina Girl, we had karaoke with KS who we realized today remarkably resembles Michelle Pfeiffer. (She doesn’t see it.) Sanders also sang a very good rendition of Break My Stride. On Miss America, Christian co-piloted the one and only Grant, which was a very rare occasion since he almost never drives. We stopped at a rest area and everyone used the bathroom and took pictures with the cast of the Wizard of Oz. Carynn took a picture with her twin… the wicked witch of the west. For lunch the cooks got subs and super scrumptious pickles. Kelly said they smacked!!! We also had chips and cookies with our sandwiches. We stopped at an oil rig which Abbi describes as very oily. That was all the sight seeing we did for the day. After that, we drove some more, saw some more cornfields, and on the bus we watched the Olympics. We watched the Russia vs. China volleyball game where Russia won and the USA vs. Turkey volleyball game that we were unable to finish.  Next, we arrived at our second Walmart stop of the day where the cooks bought a yummy dinner of chicken sandwiches, mashed potatoes, green beans (which Mallory especially enjoys), and cupcakes.  We arrived at our extremely comfy campsite to humidity and bugs (the comfy part was sarcastic). At this moment, as I am writing this blog, Sanders and Will started climbing a tree like the little monkeys they are, so that’s also super fun. Anyway, as the cooks were doing their thing, some people went swimming in the mosquito lake while others inhaled bug spray. After dinner we had a friendly competition called “Hug It Out” with the Happys taking the crown. We finished the night with a sing along.
