TWB July 10th 2021 Experience: Day 10- Huntington Beach and UCLA

Day 10: Huntington Beach and UCLA

Today was a great morning because we were able to sleep in until 6:30 – 7 ish. For breakfast, we had many different varieties of cereals to choose from which filled many people with joy. (Frosted Flakes are the best). After breakfast, we loaded into the van and headed toward Huntington Beach. It was filled with surfers and jr. lifeguards. Some participants even tried surfing out themselves. Grace loved it so much she wants to go back. Sam had Dairy Queen and almost puked at the beach, and Gabe wiped out way too many times to count. Some people got food at the some of the shops at the beach, and lots of people got shirts from some nifty surf shops. We had some participants rent surfboards, bikes, boogie boards, and even six people bikes. We all enjoyed our time at Huntington Beach-a first time visit for TWB.

We then travelled to UCLA and Grant threatened all of us that if we were not back at the bus by 3:00, we would have to buy him Bojangles. Thankfully, most of us got back on time (most of us. We never said ALL of us). After a group picture in the quad and with the UCLA Bruin statue, we made our way to the UCLA bookstore. We spent TOO much money here. Faith guesses we spent $1276 as a group. On the way to our campsite, Sam and Evan cut a jug of water with a mask. Impressive! This evening, we have set up camp at El Capitan State Park-and Grant got us a camp site near a small cliff on the water. He warned us that mist may soak our camping stuff if we’re not careful to tarp up. We are all excited for the sunset tonight. Some of us are going to walk down to the water to see the beautiful Pacific view. The counselors plan to have a sing along tonight, and Ethan is excited because he figured out how to play Springsteen. Highway one here we come tomorrow along with a stop at Monterey.
