Day 11- Highway 1

Day 11: Highway 1

Due to the long drive ahead of us to San Fran today, Grant gave us 45 minutes to get ready and leave El Capitan State Park. We were all tired and dreary, but a nice cinnamon roll breakfast helped boost everyone up. Our first stop of the day was at a Wally World where the cooks loaded up on materials and others were able to secure snacks for the next few days. The route to San Fran took us up Highway 1, where the views were fantastic. You had the Pacific Ocean on the left and the rolling grapevine hills on the right. It was astonishing, and Grant had us stop so we could enjoy the view and reflect on the past 11 days. Lunch consisted of some delicious sandwich options provided by the cooks; such options were PB & J’s or Turkey and Ham. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through our trip and that we still have 11 more days to find new friends, explore new hobbies, and tour the rest of the U.S.A.
Thank you cooks!

The girls in the van acting too cool 4 school!

Towards the end of our trip, we stopped in Monterey, California. All the girls were freezing their butts off because of the change in temperature… lol, and it was hilarious. But in the end, everyone enjoyed touring the town, finding a good place to eat, and shopping for souvenirs. The last length of the ride consisted of the cooks serving out pizza roll materials for dinner, people playing some games, and Dallas walking up and down the bus aisle trying to understand our teenage humor. Even though it still confuses her, she got some great pictures of all of us for memories. Additionally, Miss America had a Disney sing-along on our ride. Finally, we arrived in San Fran, and Michael weaved our bus through the narrow streets like Tokyo Drift. Grant was able to find a nice Methodist Church that would allow us to stay for the next two nights.  After the vans drove around the block 10 times, we finally parked for the night. It was surprising to see how much energy some people still had as we unpacked. Even so, that energy and joy with others is what TWB is all about: living in the moment. Buenos noches de San Fransisco. Love all you guys back at home!
